Tom Cruise in Aberdeen

When students cut class at the home of the Chokers, you know something magical must be in the air.

Magical as in Tom Cruise. Coming to Aberdeen.

Not that Aberdeen. Or that one. (Or most of these ones.)

This one.
Aberdeen radio stations KSWW-FM and KJET-FM planned to hold an Oprah-style couch-jumping contest in their parking lot Tuesday, but dropped the idea after they said Paramount asked them not to.

"They felt it reflected poorly on Tom's image," said Tom Schlaht of Selmer's Home Furnishings, which had provided a sofa for the contest.
As if Tom's original spoutburst didn't reflect poorly enough.

What?! They dropped the couch-jumping contest just because Paramount asked them to? What kind of nation is this where people are cowed by goddamned entertainment media corporations?

Oh, wait. The same kind of nation where "2,000 cheering fans" show up to see Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes.

Pathetic.
