Huckabee's theocentric constitutionalism

Some folks are stunned and upset about Mike Huckabee's statement that we should change the Constitution to conform to God's laws.

There should be little surprise: Huckabee said roughly the same thing months ago at the Value Voters summit.

When I hear people say, "Oh, we don't want to change the Constitution, we don't want to amend it," well it was meant to be amended. But let me give you another thought. I'm very tired of hearing people who are unwilling to change the Constitution, but seem more than willing to change the holy word of God as it relates to the definition of marriage.... We do not have the right to move the standards of God to meet new cultural norms. We need to move the cultural norms to meet God's standards.

Seems taken out of context, but I wouldn't be TOO woried... note he never said G-d wanted a theocracy, by G-d's standards might have been his way of saying "ethical standards" (he was a preacher after all, so lets at least give him credit for saying "G-d" and not "Jesus")

Then again... Maybe no.

MCCAIN '08!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PS could you explain how html tags work in this comments? I tried to make "mccain" bold but it wouldn't accept it...

The bold tag works for me. Maybe Google is biased!

If christians want to reserve their religious ceremony of marriage for certain people, they are free to do so.

But when our government is involved in the legal recognition of a partnership between two consenting adults, then they better keep religious bigotry out of it.

Religious ceremonies (marriage) for religious people, completely separate from civil partnerships, as registered and legally recognized by the state.

What's the problem? Do we really need a theocracy because lazy Americans can't stand up to rabid bigots?

Unfortunatly, there are billions of years of evolution working against this, since homosexuality reducs the amount of genes you pass on. Thus, darwinism predicts homophobia. I wonder if we'll ever get over it. (I wonder if this eplains racsism, too? Too much genetic variation within a population-- like a completely different skin color-- might be the sign of somthing unhealthy, or a birth defect. It's only the last like 0.0001% of evolution that humans have come into contact with different races of eachother. Crap, this is reminding me of my BIO exam wensday!)

Mr. Anderson, how does the bold tag work? do you just do "<.b>" before and after, or is there a different way to close it? (without the dot, its just i couldn't type it exactly)

By the way, I find it kinda creepy my debate coach is a "ms. anderson..."

It's the standard html tag. Don't forget to close it with a slash.
