Mariners stand

Today the club made only one minor deal before the deadline, trading Julio Mateo (of whom this blogger is no fan) to the Phillies for a prospect.

Now all we can do is sit back and wait, hoping that our hard 17 is good enough to win.

It's not. As nice as last night was, we aren't as talented as Cleveland, Detroit, the Angels, Boston, or even New York. We might finesse a better record than one or even two of those teams, but even if we do, our pitchers don't stand well toe-to-toe with any of the above (except New York).

Dealer is showing a 9 to our 17. She could bust, but you can't count on it. (Dealer busts only 23% of the time when showing a nine. I just looked it up.)

Thanks for sharing, Josh. Ichiro is a classic baseball humorist, up there with Yogi Berra with his impromptu wisdom.
