the quotable Island in the Sky

A different sort of John Wayne staves off hunger and the cold after crash-landing in northeastern Canada. The film, mostly because of its gritty realism and splendid cinematography, succeeds despite a clunker of a script. Some of my favorite lines, great for all the wrong reasons:

Island in the Sky would make an interesting double feature with either the original Flight of the Phoenix or No Highway.
